Research Methodology

Purpose

Vehicle records prioritize manufacturer product pages, datasheets and manuals, followed by government, military, university and recognized technical sources. Each record exposes the selected primary source and a last-verified date.

Conflict and uncertainty handling

When credible sources conflict, AUVS prefers current manufacturer documentation for the exact generation, records material discrepancies and never combines similarly named generations. Unknown values remain “Not published.” Approximate language is preserved when the publisher uses it.
